Rehabilitation of Lumbar Radiculopathy: A Clinical Review

Background and purpose: lumbar radiculopathy is a set of neuropathic conditions caused by compressed spinal nerves at or near the level of nerve roots, the pain radiates down the leg with classical symptoms of numbness, tingling, paresthesia and muscle weakness is seen. This review is intended to check the effectiveness of various physical therapy approaches in the management of LR which includes mechanical traction, electrotherapy, spinal manipulation and manual therapy which we used commonly for lumbar radiculopathy.
Methods and material: The research was selected random which were related to conservative management of LR. The research is relevant to the ResearchGate, PubMed, PubMed national, ScienceDirect and google scholar. Conclusion: Conventional physical therapy techniques is effective in lumbar radiculopathy but some studies stated that conservative method is more effective in patients with acute and moderate symptoms while in severe conditions surgery is recommended as a first line choice of treatment.
